Macbook air (mid 2012 vintage) full spec to a MAC Thunderbolt display 27". A cheap 1080P monitor connected via HDMI to a Apple TV for Airplay. This allows second monitor (via airplay ) for MacBook Air and also for streaming from -
iPad AIR - WiFi and 3/4G
IPad Mini - carried at work - WiFi
iPod Touch - like my little touch for music - WiFi
iPhone 5 - computer and connectivity everywhere 3/4G and WiFi
Apple Airport Routers with time machine systems (HDD)
Jambox speakers - small and large - plus other portable speakers
Quality headphones - I have a hearing issue and I am "old"
WD 1 gigabyte, mirrored, ethernet connected drive
Drobo 5 bay 5TB - dual drive redundancy - its killed 2 x seagate drives at 2 years (not NAS drives).
NAS QNAP 4 bay (16 TB reduced when configured) - virtual machines if I want to play along with nice other capabilities.
LAN - Dwelling wide WiFi
(Yes I am serious about backing up! Also redundancy)
Better half runs a iMAC - iPhone - iPad 2
The Drobo is the only problem child. It's a early model with only Firewire and USB and with the current OS X keeps dropping its connection (OS security related, not assisted by use of non NAS drives) with no fix from Drobo to date (worked fine prior to Yosemite).
Everything else (Apple) just works once configured.
