there was a question raised on this article this afternoon about HP's server business:
And it got me thinking.
When I was a systems administrator, I was mainly administering gear from companies like Sun Microsystems (SPARC gear), HP, IBM and a few other random brands such as NEC.
But that was 15 years or so ago now, and I'm curious to know how things have changed. I've got some some stats on my end, but I'd like to know -- what server brands do you mainly see in datacentres at the moment? What gear do you commonly see when you're walking the floors and plugging stuff in?
Thanks for any feedback -- this will help my thinking and overall impression of things
And no, you can't class "Amazon" as a server brand
