Hey guys, I'm interested in what mobile phone plans you have signed up to. What data allowance do you get? What call allowance do you get? What do you think should be included in a good mobile phone plans?
I'm currently on a grandfathered Telstra prepaid plan for $50 per month, the Telstra Pre-Paid Cap Encore. I get $950 dollars worth of calls and texts to everyone in Australia except international numbers, and free calls and texts after 6PM and 800MB of included data. I use $49 worth of credit to buy a 3GB data pack, where I then receive 3.8GB of data per month on Telstra 4G. I don't receive free texts between 6am and 6pm, that comes out of the $950 worth of included credit. That leaves me with $1 per month of credit left over. The issue with this is that $1 is not much credit to access voicemail, as voicemail is not included as a part of the pre paid cap inclusion.
Telstra changed this deal to the Telstra Pre-Paid Freedom plan, which reduced the maximum amount of data to 2.5GB of data per month on the $50 recharge, but added bonuses such as unlimited calls to Telstra mobiles and unlimited texts to Australian numbers. I also heard/saw rumours of new Telstra pre-paid plains being released on or after the 1st of September, with higher data allowances. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/208322
I use an iPhone 5s, and most of my friends and family have iPhones so I never use much of prepaid plan inclusion on text messages. I also travel to regional areas often, so I value the coverage of Telstra.
