So after some stupid weather in Lake Macquarie, our FTTN connection has definitely seen better days. Our ADSL2 was faster and more reliable when it rained than our FTTN was. A whole day without internet and speeds following of 0.4mbps to 1mbps.
This made me very curious of how much it would cost to get fibre extended to our house. I mean, we are only 70 odd metres from the node so it should be straight forward and relatively inexpensive, no? No. The cost estimation was a ballpark $10-$15k.
Naturally the multiport isn't next to the node like it should be. It's 300 metres down the road. Now I'm waiting to see what technology is going into a 37 lot development across the road. Probably copper, but let's hope for FTTP and a new estimate?
Oh nbn ¯_(ツ)_/¯
