Some of the questions on notice from the last hearing are up. Of particular interest to me is q87: " List of towns that will be serviced by satellite"
I don't live in any of these towns (fortunately) but I visit Mount Buller several times a year for my filthy skiing & snowboarding habit. Its one of the towns that has been put onto this... presumably by someone who hasn't factored in the local environment. For around 3-5 months of the year, it snows in the region - often with blizzards.
I'm no expert when it comes to satellite tech... but having been in the various bars there over the years while its been blizzarding outside, the foxtel satellite signal has always dropped out when there's a game on. Additionally, I imagine that the satellite dishes don't exactly operate all that well when there's been a big dump of snow on them (though its been pointed out to me that some dishes have heaters built in, but I doubt the mass order from NBN co will include that feature).
I'm wondering if this is just an oversight by NBN Co or the planning department don't have the slightest of clues regarding local conditions...
