Ed Bott, my favourite Windows 10 crusader, has tried to tickle Windows 7 diehard holdouts such as my good self:
Then Ed says "On Monday morning, I began installing Windows 7 Pro on a clean virtual machine.
On Tuesday morning, more than 24 hours later, the installation was still not finished."
Ed. No. No. No. You could have saved yourself 24 hours of installation. In a number of ways. First of all you should make your Windows 7 OS as light as possible. Uninstall anything that you don't need. Files, programs, even ones that you have a serial number for offline on a stick etc, uninstall that too.
Then, back up your Windows 7 OS to an external hard drive.
Then on a new computer/installation restore from the back up. I use Macrium.
For a virtual save and a virtual installation a great tool is Paragon. I've used that before to save to a virtual back up and restore to a virtual box on another computer.
So Ed, why did you waste 24 hours dude? Did you miss out on getting the daily smart pills from the guy in the series Limitless? Or do you truly know bugger all about how a computer works? Because I am not an expert and even I know that you did the wrong thing here.
Ed Bott, you have gone, to paraphrase the now defunct Crazy Johns, completely mad. You are nuts. You are a coconut.
