A couple of months ago there was a flurry of activity. Installers arrived and fed in cable from the street to the house. We were told we'd be notified when testing was complete and we could actually hook up to it.
Still hasn't happened.
Meanwhile It looks like the nbn addressing policy will be affected by the suppliers policies.
In my case that is optus. That means no fixed ip addresses (as for cable), and no servers allowed here.
That's going to be a problem for me. I currently run 2 dsl connections with a total of 32 ip addresses routed here, with a bunch of low traffic servers.
None of that is commercial (just friends/family and me experimenting), but it looks like when they start to rip up the copper, I will have to start looking for hosting or co-lo.
Oh - no firm indication yet obviously of inbound/outbound speeds, but I'm betting they won't be that good (particularly outbound)
